Atim earned a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Sociology from York University in Toronto, Canada, a Master’s degree in Anthropology from University of Toronto, and her Primary credential from the Washington Montessori Institute in Washington, D.C. Atim joined MNSV in 2008 with 12 years of experience as a Primary teacher. In 2004, she was a member of a mission of three Montessori teachers to China to stimulate Montessori philosophy and pedagogy. In 2022 Atim retired from teaching in the classroom, but will now lead MSNV's Montessori Mornings. Prior to her Montessori training, Atim worked in the human resources field and health insurance industry. She has four children, all who attended Montessori and are college graduates, two of whom now have post graduate degrees.
Jared received his Primary credential at The Washington Montessori Institute at Loyola University. He studied Special Education at the University of Virginia and completed his Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education at Loyola College, Maryland. Before joining the staff at MSNV in 1998, Jared taught on the Preprimary level at Family Montessori, in a Head Start School in Charlottesville, and in a high school in Kenya. Jared has also worked as a program assistant for the Discovery Museum in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Nate Oliver is a New York State native who attended the Corcoran School of Art and received an Associate’s Degree in Commercial and Electronic Graphic Design from the Northern Virginia Community College where he also studied music theory, jazz ensemble , guitar and percussion . He has studied percussion primarily, from the age of around 14. First with jazz drummer Russ Black in N.Y. – then, here in Virginia with David Goiser, and Al Merz primarily. A collaboration with now elementary teacher, Mr. Pierce led him to membership as a drummer in the local band Jonny Grave and the Tombstones in which they have performed to crowds at the Kennedy Center, 9:30 club, Black Cat, State Theater, Hamilton and other major venues.
