Kari Cafeo is the Head of School at MSNV joining in July, 2018. Kari started her education career over 20 years ago as a teacher in the Cincinnati Public Schools. She went on to earn her Masters of Administration degree from the University of Cincinnati. Upon moving to Virginia, Kari assumed the role of Director of the Mount Vernon Presbyterian Preschool during their inaugural year and then went on to be a member of the administrative team at Burgundy Farm Country Day School, first as the Director of Admissions and later as the Assistant Head of School. Kari’s family relocated to Massachusetts where she was the Head of School at Shrewsbury Montessori School. As a mother of two children, she has been actively involved as a parent in private, public, and boarding schools for the past 15 years. Kari enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and travelling.
Kristen found MSNV as a parent and was inspired to become a Montessori teacher at MSNV. She is excited to be part of the Upper Elementary team after spending several years substitute teaching at MSNV across all program levels. Before teaching, Kristen worked as a corporate attorney and spent several years at home with her two boys (now MSNV students). She is pursuing her Elementary I-II certificate at the Center for Guided Montessori Studies and holds a J.D. from Yale Law School, a Masters in English from Washington University in St. Louis, and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Kristen enjoys hiking, volunteering as a Virginia Master Naturalist, and cheering on her sons at their latest favorite activity.
MK earned her Masters in Teaching at UVA in 2006 and spent more than a decade teaching high school math in Fairfax County. She came to MSNV as a parent during the pandemic and started subbing in classes throughout the school when her youngest started in Primary. With the opening of the Middle School, MK brings her experience as a high school teacher to help the students transition from Montessori to their next adventure.
Jean earned a Bachelor’s degree from Whitman College in Washington and a Master of Education in Special Education from the University of Oregon. She taught special education in public school before she received her Early Childhood credential through Southwestern Texas Montessori Training Institute. Jean developed and taught a state-accredited Montessori kindergarten program, developed and taught enrichment programs for students in kindergarten through grade 3, and taught at the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins before coming to work at MSNV in 1993. Jean has six children and six grandchildren.
Casey has been a part of the MSNV team for 10 years! She has experience with all levels and even Extended Day! Casey received her Montessori training from Northern Virginia Montessori Institute in Ashburn in 2018. For the last three years, she has been a co-lead with Ms. Kathryn in American Holly. When she’s not at MSNV, she’s at home having fun with her growing family!
Ms. Stacey is a dynamic member of the performing arts faculty at the Montessori School of Northern Virginia and thrilled to have yet another opportunity to harness the transformative power of the arts to make a positive impact and change in the world. Ms. Stacey is also the proud Founder and CEO of C4 Performing Arts in Fairfax, VA and Artistic Director of the Claytor Company. Stacey is a passionate and dedicated performing artist, arts educator and arts advocate. She studied at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater and Dance from James Madison University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from The George Washington University. As a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Stacey always seeks opportunities to serve in her community and she is constantly working with her students to not only fill them with a love and appreciation for the arts, but to cultivate in them, a strong sense of family and social responsibility as well as empower them to become the leaders of tomorrow.
Giulia has worked with children of all ages for several years. As a mainstay in MSNV’s extended day program, students gravitate to her warm and caring nature. This fall, Giulia will take her talents to Valleybrook's Preprimary program.
