MSNV’s current Head of School, Betsy Mitchell, will be retiring in June 2018 at the end of the 2017-2018 school year. Betsy has faithfully served the school with distinction since 1976 and she will be dearly missed by our entire community. Betsy has guided MSNV from its more humble early days to our current school marked by extraordinary growth, strength, and mission-inspired love. In addition to her dedicated leadership as our Head of School for the last 32 years, Betsy has also been a classroom teacher, trustee, and parent.
A Message from Betsy
It was with great anticipation that I awaited the selection of our next Head of School and I was thrilled to hear the news that Kari Cafeo was chosen. In spending time with Kari during her visit, I realized almost immediately that she would be an excellent choice to lead MSNV for many reasons, among them being her current experience as Head of a Montessori school, her belief in the Montessori philosophy, her warmth and desire to engage with the faculty and students, her prior experience in Admission and Administration at Burgundy Farm Country Day School, and her desire to re-establish her family in this area. Kari brings numerous skills and experiences that will be of great value to MSNV as our school continues to thrive and evolve. I feel re-assured and comforted that I will be leaving MSNV in capable, wise, and caring hands.
I appreciate the complexity of the task undertaken and executed by the Head Search Committee. Their work was accomplished with professionalism, thoroughness, and care. I especially want to thank Dan Cornette and Adrianna Bravo for their leadership as co-chairs of the Committee, and I look forward to working with them to ensure a smooth transition during the remainder of my time with MSNV.
