Welcome to the pirate life. It is time to leave behind the comforts of land and experience the adventures of the high seas. We will be learning about all things pirate-related, from flags to attire and food. We may even find some lost treasure!

It’s Fourth of July week! We will explore the special meaning of this holiday that gave birth to our nation. We will learn about the basic meanings of our flag and our Constitution. Patriotic songs and arts and crafts will make this a festive camp week!

Join us as we bite and nibble our way through food centered activities. Our camp week begins with a day of getting to know each other, safety review, and preparation including team building activities, arts and crafts, and outdoor games. During this week of adventures, we’ll visit Mount Vernon Estate to watch a working farm in action, stop by the local Farmers Market to shop for delicious snacks, practice etiquette and manners while we enjoy a lunch at The Block (Annandale’s Asian Food Court), and, finally, learn all we can from the FOOD exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum of American History.

Paintings, drawings and sculptures are created all around the world, from the past and present. Let’s take a trip to discover some of the great masterpieces. We will learn ab out various styles and use a variety of mediums to create some of our own.

We will do experiments involving and exploring the properties of water, we will play a game about the water cycle and we will talk about how we use water. We will explore water in literature from rain to oceans to snowflakes. We will sing songs and have all kinds of activities indoors and outdoors with water. Everywhere you look there will be something interesting to do with water!

Join us as we venture on an exploration of theatre. Our camp week begins with a day of getting to know each other, safety review, and preparation including team building activities, arts and crafts, and outdoor games. During this week of adventures we will see shows and explore area theaters. We’ll see You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown at Imagination Stage, enjoy a puppet show version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves as well as tour the Kennedy Center and the Ford Theatre, learning about the performing arts along the way.

Join us as we play all types of games, from the beloved family board games to puzzles, to creating our own. We will learn about gaming rules and taking turns. We will also participate in outdoor games.

Cooking is really one big science experiment! What tastes good and why? What goes together and what doesn’t go together? What are some common ingredients and cooking techniques? And what is the difference between fresh food and processed food? We will explore different kinds of bread-making, see what happens when you heat food and learn what we do with herbs and spices. We will learn all these things as we explore the science of cooking! (Of course, this will involve cooking and sampling what we’ve made!)

Join us for 3 weeks of more musical glitz and glamour than you can imagine as we travel to a whole new world in Musical Theatre Camp! Students will be challenged to grow individually and as a team, designing and producing all aspects of our show, including acting, vocals, choreography and various aspects of production in lighting, sound, set coordination, costuming, make-up and props. Camp will culminate with two performances on August 2 and one performance, strike and cast party on August 3.
-Auditions: Auditions for lead roles have already been held and casted, however we still have spots available in the cast and crew.

As the elementary students participate in our annual summer theater camp, we primary students will play a role too! We will create masks and props inspired by the elementary play. Get ready for some show stopping art adventures. Come be a part of it all!

Join us as we explore our five senses — sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. These important functions help us understand the world around us. We will examine the role of each of the senses through experiments, arts and crafts, games and more!

Join other makers as we come together to create a “makerspace,” a place where children will observe and interact with different “maker” methods and materials. The makerspace is a place where children not only build amazing things, but also nurture a growth mindset as we take our ideas and give them shape. Maker projects will use a broad range of things from the junk box to innovative new materials, and will introduce traditional building materials as well as new technologies.

Children love celebrating holidays. Join us for a new celebration each day of the week, holiday crafts and learning. We will learn the stories and traditions of each holiday. We will enjoy holiday music and songs. Remember to drag out a costume to be ready for the Halloween parade on Friday. The week will be loads of fun!
